Time to clean the ears?
Dogs’ ears have all kinds of different shapes and sizes. But whatever the shape, all dogs can get ear infections. It's therefore proper ear care necessary for all dogs. Get in the habit of looking and smelling in the dog’s ears. Get in the habit of looking and smelling in the dog’s ears. This way you have the opportunity to detect early if the dog starts to have problems with the ears. The ears should not smell bad, and there should not be a lot of gag in the ears (there may be a very small amount of ear wax). It should be easy to see the opening into the ear canal. It should not be red or swollen.
Floppy, folded, small, large—dogs’ ears come in many shapes, but they all serve the same purpose: as funnels for sound. Did you know that at least 18 muscles work to tilt, raise and rotate these furry appendages, helping the dog identify and capture sounds from different directions?
Unlike humans who have a very short ear canal, dogs have a long, narrow ear canal that makes almost a 90° bend as it travels to the deeper parts of the ear. Compared to cats, dogs tend to have many more ear problems and infections, especially dogs with heavy, floppy ears. While routine ear cleanings can contribute to your dog’s overall health, over cleaning can cause more harm than good. It’s best to perform ear cleaning only as-needed so familiarize yourself with what your dog’s healthy, clean ears look like. Perform regular at-home physical examinations of your dog’s health so they get comfortable with the process, this way your dog is relaxed while you clean their ears.
WAP: 7 Ear wash can be used for routine ear cleaning or infection, itching or inflammation. Apply 1-2 times daily for more serious ailments. Used for daily use if necessary. Intended for use in the ear only. Please note that we do not recommend using the product in case of damage to the eardrum. We always recommend consulting a veterinarian in case of problems to find the root cause of the problem. If the dog seems to have pain in the ears, or if you have cleaned the ears for a couple of days without getting better, it is wise to make an appointment with a veterinarian for help.
